Kwanzaa 2022-3

Today's Kwanzaa principle is Ujamaa-- 'extended family,' 'community' or 'brotherhood/sisterhood' in Kiswahili, the main language of East Africa. Ujamaa was a principle adopted by Tanzania after independence from colonialism, back in 1966.

In the week-long celebration of Kwanzaa, which started on Monday, the word has come to mean Collective Economics--buying Black, supporting Black Business, circulating wealth in the Black community. To celebrate, we can light a candle and think about ways to practice Ujamaa.

By reading this post right now, you are supporting a Black-owned business. So, thank you. This has been an incredible year of growth for MultiGenerational.Black.

What other ways do you support Black businesses? And do you celebrate Kwanzaa? Let us know in the comments, and in the meantime, a Joyful Kwanzaa to all.
